Naval Ravikant in his book The Almanack of Naval Ravikant said: “Enlightenment is the space between your thoughts. It can be achieved every single day from moment to moment.” For example, when you do your daily walk, most likely you would focus on planning the rest of the day or thinking about the past, and rarely focusing on the moment, the present. And that just literally ruined your happiness if you spend all of your time either planning the future or regretting the past.
How to achieve enlightenment?
In this book, one of the strategies he recommended was Choiceless Awareness. For example, when you do your daily walk, instead of planning ahead or making unconsciously judgement of what you see, just do not judge anything, do not make any decisions, and accept everything. He said: “If I do that for ten or fifteen minutes while walking around, I end up in a very peaceful, grateful state.”
