NVIDIA Option Trading – 2024 performance

It’s been a while since I last shared my NVIDIA option trading experiences. I’ve decided to return and document this year’s journey especially with this year, 2025, market volatility —not only as a way to learn for myself, but also in the hope that it might be interesting or useful to you.

Let me start with a recap of my 2024 NVIDIA option trading performance. All in all, I did quite well, especially considering it was my very first year trading options. I ended the year with a return of around 45%, and here’s a breakdown of how that played out:

  • NVIDIA was the only stock I traded options on in 2024.
I didn’t jump around between companies, chasing high volatility for higher premiums. Instead, I stuck with what I knew. I read NVIDIA’s financial reports, did my own valuation, and felt confident about the company’s long-term future. That’s why I laser-focused on trading NVIDIA options only.
  • I only traded on the sell side.
I didn’t buy any options in 2024—only sold them.
  • Every single trade I made was profitable.
That alone felt like a personal milestone. For a first-year options trader, not taking a loss felt pretty great.

To be honest, I think both investing and trading are deeply personal decisions. It all depends on your individual risk tolerance, your feel for the market, and how well you understand—or believe in—a company’s fundamentals.

Sometimes we think we have a high risk tolerance, but once we’re actually in the market and money is on the line, our emotional reactions can surprise us. That’s why I believe understanding a company’s financials isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. It keeps you grounded when things get rough.

That’s all for today. 😊
